Speaker Paolo Vergano who regularly advise Governments, multinational corporations on issues related to market access opportunities and regulatory barriers to trade in goods and services.
Over the years, Paolo has developed an unparallel reach in the ASEAN region and with the ASEAN Secretariat and Member States. In particular, he has been legal advisors to the ASEAN Secretariat since 2007 in a variety of different capacities and serving the key economic Divisions and Working Groups. He Has advised and represented several ASEAN Governments (i.e., Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam) and/or ASEAN-based companies or trade associations (both local and foreign) on regional integration, market access and trade negotiation issues.

To answer these and related questions Ed Teather, Senior Economist for ASEAN and India at UBS Investment Bank, will present on the outlook for the ASEAN economies.

Edward Teather is an Executive Director and senior economist in UBS investment bank’s Asian Economics Team, which has been a top ranked team in Asia according to surveys of institutional investors.
He is responsible for the coverage of the ASEAN economies including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. Ed joined UBS in 1998 and worked initially in UBS’ Global Economics Team. For the eight years prior to his current role Ed was a European Economist based in London, where his responsibilities included coverage of the Euro Area, German, Spanish, Italian and Scandinavian economies.
Ed is a UK national and has lived in Singapore for more than three years. Ed studied economics at the University of Surrey in the UK and the University of North Texas in the USA.
